Divine Images, part 3: Night and Day

We have all grown accustomed to the routine of a 24 hour day.  We have our daytime and our nighttime.  In the midst of that routine it is good to remember that God has said there are certain things that go on night and day.  It will do you good to meditate on these things.

First, remember that the righteous delight in the law of the Lord “and in his law doth he meditate day and night (Psalm 1:2).”  Let us be sure that we are found meditating in His law in the day and in the night.

Second, remember that God shall “avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them ( Luke 18:7).”  Here is a great promise to those afflicted and persecuted Christians who cry unto Him for help day and night.

Third, remember that the saints in this world are identified by God as those who pray night and day (1 Timothy 5:5; 2 Timothy 1:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:10).”

Fourth, remember that the saints in this world instantly serve God night and day (Acts 26:7), and labour for the kingdom night and day (1 Thessalonians 2:9; 3:8).

Fifth, remember the angels do not rest day or night but worship God continually saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come (Revelation 4:8).”

Sixth, remember that the damned have no rest day or night, but are tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 14:11; 20:10).

Seventh, remember that the saints in heaven are before the throne of God and serve Him in His temple day and night (Revelation 7:15).

Eight, remember that the accuser - Satan - accuses the brethren day and night (Revelation 12:10).

Ninth, remember that those who love Zion weep over her night and day (Jeremiah 14:17; 9:1; Lamentations 2:18).

Tenth, remember that God's true watchmen "never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence (Isaiah 62:6)."
